in Fashion
  • Location: Palermo, Sicily, Italy – Ippodromo di Palermo
  • Date: 2021
  • Photographer: Francesco Militello Mirto

Palermo hosted the Palermo Fashion Night, a runway event produced by Rosi De Simone, who for several years has promoted Sicilian tailoring excellence by bringing local brands and designers to the runway. The event highlighted fashion businesses and designers who have chosen to remain and invest in Sicily despite the difficulties and obstacles faced by local entrepreneurs. The evening took place at the Ippodromo di Palermo under the patronage of the Assemblea Regionale Siciliana and the Comune di Palermo, with the organizers describing the event as an opportunity to promote the territory and local productive activities. The municipal administration was represented by Councillor Paolo Petralia Camassa. The runway featured the spring-summer 2022 collections of local brands and companies, in the presence of Ippodromo director Francesco Ruffo della Scaletta. The event was hosted by Monia Arizzi, a Palermo-born personality known for Non è la Rai, and actor Ottavio Amato, with direction by Ugo D’Azzò. Among the guests was Albanian dancer Kledi Kadiu, whose appearance attracted the attention of the women attending the evening. Valentina Pitzalis and Giusy Laganà, testimonial and secretary general of FareXbene Onlus, were also present. The organization is committed to protecting women victims of violence and combating bullying in schools. Rosi De Simone presented the Fashion Night Award to photographer Pucci Scafidi, author of Genius Panormi. The musical program included performances by Argentine countertenor Joaquin Soffredini, saxophonist Gerardo Vitale, and Mauriziotto DJ, who provided entertainment between the runway appearances. Several Sicilian brands were the protagonists of the fashion evening. Allure presented colorful fabrics and designs inspired by the summer season, while ArtOttica showcased eyeglass and sunglasses collections. Almami by Alessandra Giurintano presented its jewelry, Giunò its kimonos, Grace Milano its swimwear, and Madì Creazioni its creations. Pinto presented fashionable workwear, Quartararo a total look featuring clothing and footwear, Roberta Ravel its bridal collections, together with Sartoria Italiano and Vali Boutique. Fashion and backstage coordination were handled by Giusy Governale, with models from the Castdiva agency of Catania and press office and communications by Emme Averna Comunicazione. The next appointment with Rosi De Simone’s fashion events was announced for July 21 with the Terrasini Fashion Night.
