EmmeReports is an independent editorial project dedicated to photojournalism and documentary photography. Founded in Sicily in February 2020, at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, it was created with the aim of documenting people, communities, and social transformations through a direct, field-based approach. From the earliest months of the pandemic, the project documented Palermo and the way the city experienced one of the most significant events in recent history, developing a vision of reportage understood not only as observation, but as presence. Today,
EmmeReports operates between Sicily and Madrid, working without limits of space or context: in the air, at sea, and on land. Stories emerge through images and develop through texts and interviews, always maintaining direct contact with the reality being documented. There is no distance between the storyteller and the story itself: being inside the story is an essential part of the narrative process. Alongside its editorial work, EmmeReports produces commissioned projects and visual storytelling productions for organizations, institutions, and media outlets, applying the same field-driven approach and narrative depth to assigned work. The name of the project reflects its origins: “Emme” refers to Militello Mirto and Melita, the surnames of the two founders, while “Reports” defines the project’s vocation and its roots in field journalism.
The EmmeReports logo features the silhouette of an eagle. More than a simple graphic element, it is a symbol that carries multiple meanings: it recalls aviation, an environment closely connected to the project’s origins; it evokes Palermo, the city where EmmeReports was born; and it represents a way of observing reality — maintaining a broad perspective without ever losing contact with the ground.
